Why I am doing this:

My photo
Anyone who really knows me would know that I could not live without music. Music can change my mood like nothing else! I have been writing my own songs since I was a little girl, and have decided that I don't want to keep them to myself anymore! One of the reasons I started writing lyrics is this: when I'm in a bad mood, or when I'm really sad I usually find some music that I like, and try to zone the world out. So many times I've been listening to something, and I've felt such powerful emotions! Love, gratitude, confidence, hope, the list can go on and on! I would love to know that someone else had a similar experience because of something I wrote. That is my goal! My biggest fear is that people won't like what I've written. I am terrified of rejection, but I read a quote once that said "Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do." I've thought a lot about that, and I've decided that I cannot guarantee that everyone will love my songs, but I can compose. I can write. I can sing. I can play. And I can hear awesome harmonies! So, I'm not going to let what I can't do interfere with what I can do anymore! That is why I am here

Daddy's Baby Girl

I am a Daddy's Girl. This is common knowledge. This song was written for my Daddy. Father's Day 2007.

I could feel the fear growing in my heart
As he walked me to the door.
I held back the tears as he pulled me close,
I'd never been to school before.

When I walked away I saw the love in his eyes
Saying "You'll never be alone."
From the strength in his smile I knew I'd be ok
Going into this great unknown.

And I said
Daddy, how far do you think I'll go?
Daddy, how much do you think I'll grow.
He said "You'll reach the stars when you shoot for the moon.
You'll grow up way to soon."
I said "Maybe, but I'll always be
Daddy's Baby Girl."

At almost sixteen I found myself
In his car behind the wheel.
He was in the seat, sitting next to me
Saying "Keep it steady and still."

And though we didn't go very far
my first time driving a car
I realized he had faith in me
Faith that sometimes I couldn't see.

And I said
Daddy, how far do you think I'll go?
Daddy, how much do you think I'll grow.
He said "You'll reach the stars when you shoot for the moon.
You'll grow up way to soon."
I said "Maybe, but I'll always be
Daddy's Baby Girl."

Daddy, I know that I have grown.
And Daddy, I'll have children of my own.
But no matter where my life takes me
No matter where my paths may lead
I know that in my heart I'll forever be
Daddy's Baby Girl
Baby Girl

He was in a tux
I was dressed in white
When we danced our final dance.
I'd know all my life this day would come
I knew this was my big chance

What I didn't expect were the tears in his eyes
as he gave me away to my love
He said "I hope you know how precious she is
A most precious gift from above."

And I said
Daddy, how far do you think I'll go?
Daddy, how much do you think I'll grow
He said "You'll reach the stars when you shoot for the moon.
You'll grow up way too soon."
I said "Maybe, but I'll forever be
Daddy's Baby Girl."
